    📍 Mehrgarh, Balochistan

    One of the earliest farming villages of the subcontinent, excavated and dated by French archaeologists.

c. 3000 – 1500 BCE · The Harappan cities: planned drainage, standard weights, writing and wheeled carts.

    A ploughed field and terracotta ploughs

    📍 Kalibangan, Rajasthan

    A field with two sets of furrows at right angles — two crops grown together; terracotta plough models were found in Cholistan and at Banawali.

Iron Age

c. 1800 – 600 BCE · Iron working in the Ganga plain, new farming methods and the first coins.
