Rises in Raksas tal near Mansarovar (4,555 m) in Tibet, where it is called Langchen Khambab. It runs almost parallel to the Indus for about 400 km, passes through the Shipki La and leaves the mountains at Rupar. An antecedent river, it feeds the canals of the Bhakra Nangal project.
