Coral islands in the Arabian Sea, between 8°N–12°N and 71°E–74°E, 220–440 km off the Kerala coast. There are about 36 islands, 11 of them inhabited. The Nine Degree Channel divides the group: Amini island to the north, Canannore island to the south. Their eastern shores have storm beaches of pebbles, shingle, cobbles and boulders.
