Godavari (Dakshin Ganga)

The largest Peninsular river system, also called the Dakshin Ganga. It rises in Nasik district of Maharashtra and flows to the Bay of Bengal; 49% of its basin is in Maharashtra. Its main tributaries are the Penganga, Indravati, Pranhita and Manjra. South of Polavaram it forms a picturesque gorge, and after Rajamundri it splits into a large delta.
